We train riders of all levels

We train riders of all levels

We base our dressage work on the german training scale developed through the use of correct bio-mechanics. Our position is how we speak to the horse. The german training scale encourages rhythm, relaxation and connectedness as a foundation to all our work.

We develop correct and confident riders and horses at True North. With our deep well of experience and resources, we will build a training program just for you. We are USEA ICP Certified and MA Licensed, love teaching and it shows in all we do. We welcome riders with their own horses/ponies to come as ship-ins as well as those who will enjoy our wonderful school horses/ponies.

So that we may give you undivided attention and assess the steps to help you meet your riding and training goals, all first timer and beginner lessons are private. From our littlest youngsters to our adult competing riders, we will work to help you reach your goals and develop as a rider and a horseman(woman).

True North Farm offers membership packages of all levels that include riding lessons along with various other services and discounts. See Membership page for more details. Although we offer one time lessons and lesson 10 packs for our students, all regular lesson students choose a level of membership that suits their interests and goals after their first month of lessons. We are happy to assist you with this decision.

Our Jr Pony Club program is based on  US Pony Club  programming and open to all elementary and middle school age kids. Runs Saturdays through the school year. Students are welcome as drop ins by appointment at $100/month or $30/day. Riding experience is not necessary for the Jr Pony Club program! (DUE TO THE PANDEMIC ALL PONY CLUB MEETINGS ARE PRESENTLY VIA ZOOM).

Dressage lessons with Sue Roberto-Buchanon are available at a different rate. Please see Kay for details.

We regularly have talented and trusted visiting clinicians whose fees may vary from our regular lesson schedule listed above. See particular clinic announcements for details. See Calendar of Events pages for more details.

Lesson Rates:  Payment and waiver must be received before lesson will be scheduled. We will not cash your check until we have agreed upon a lesson time that is convenient for you.

Payments for lessons, memberships, summer programs and other services may be made via Venmo, cash or check.

Our students will choose a membership level suitable to their interests and goals, while single lesson prices for new students in their first month of service include:

$70 - one lesson: 30 min private or one 60 min semi/small group

$100- one 60 minute private lesson

$600 - Discounted 10 pack of lessons (30 minute privates OR 60 minute semi/small groups) - available only as an add on to any membership package. These discounted lesson packs will not be applied to past due lessons and are not available instead of a lesson membership.

Cancellation Policy:  We take your time seriously and considerable time goes into planning lessons, reserving the horse and instructor time specifically for you, thus 24 hour notice is required for all lesson cancellations. There is no refund for lessons cancelled within 24 hours. It is the responsibility of the rider to be tacked up and ready to ride at your assigned time. In the event our instructor cancels a lesson, a make up lesson will be rescheduled at the earliest agreed upon ride time. Members must use their lessons in the paid month.

There is a $5 late fee per lesson for any lesson not paid for at time of service. There is a $25 late fee for any memberships or board paid past the 3rd of the month. Thank you.
